CONTINUUM OF CARE RECEIVES SIGNATURE GRANT FROM DOUG FLUTIE, JR. FOUNDATION FOR AUTISM FOR $10,000

grant award from the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation

New Haven, Connecticut — January 2022 — Continuum of Care, Inc. is pleased to announce it has received a $10,000 grant from the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism.  These funds will provide critical services for individuals who are diagnosed with Autism as well as behavioral health challenges.

The Flutie Foundation Signature Grants help their partner agencies address a variety of significant needs in the autism community,” says Nick Savarese, Executive Director of The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism.  “Programs like these are helping people on the autism spectrum live life to the fullest and we are proud to support their efforts.”

The funds will be used to enable Continuum to provide multiple diagnostic assessments to determine a full scope of psychiatric and healthcare needs, and develop and implement a systemic and coordinated plan of care for individuals with both autism and behavioral health needs.  Ordinarily, individuals with duo diagnosis of Autism and mental health challenges are only able to receive state funding for services to diagnose and address either the developmental disability needs or the behavioral health within the same year.  “A more multi-faceted approach enables us to understand and care for this population of clients more comprehensively, and address their needs more fully,” stated Gretchen Richardson, VP of Clinical and Program Operations.  “We are honored and grateful for the grant award from this prestigious Foundation. The grant will certainly make a difference to this population of clients.” Richardson added.

Continuum has extensive experience in serving clients who have duo-diagnosis across the Developmental Disability and Mental Health spectrum. The grant helps to bring multiple disciplines together for an integrative approach to diagnosis and support services.
