Travis Has Found His Passion

Travis has been with Continuum’s Young Adult Services Program for 7 years. He is diagnosed with Autism, PTSD and ADHD and experienced a lot of frustration and anger with his condition. Continuum staff worked with Travis to help him healthfully process his emotions and issues, so he could break out of his shell to explore his interests and experience a full life in the community. He says he’s felt so much happier participating in so many activities!

Staff take him bowling (he hopes to join a team soon), volunteering at animal shelters, museums, and zoos. He loves swimming and playing video games. Travis finds the most joy and peace from taking care of animals and making art – pastimes that help him to cope and give him a true sense of accomplishment. He draws, paints, and makes collages. He’s really proud that he’s sold his artwork at YAZBIZ Vendor Marketplace events. YAZBIZ is a state program that Continuum’s Young Adults are really involved with, which helps young adults with mental illness to gain vocational experience. They also host many workshops and events that Travis loves to attend, like self-defense classes and trivia nights. Through these programs and his time with Continuum, he’s made very noticeable progress. Staff see that he's been handling his responsibilites well, like cooking, cleaning and participating in groups. They say he's truly in his element when socializing and engaging in activities.

Travis is happy to share that he’s developed authentic friendships and found even more opportunities to better his life.

In the future, he wants to achieve getting his dream job – working with animals.
